The satisfaction Maria received from the experience of painting her first Pony prompted her to want to paint other Ponies, resulting in the release of many best-selling figurines, created by Maria. She also designed coffee mugs for a Hong Kong company, fabrics for a New York company, and greeting cards for a Baltimore company. She has designed for two major tabletop companies in England, producing hard surface placemats and coasters. Her paintings have been exhibited in art galleries both here and abroad. The list of accomplishments and awards Maria Ryan has received for her art is extensive. The designs, strongly influenced by spiritual beliefs and tribal legends, were not simply decorative, they served as a wearable bank that depicted social class within a tribe. One such tradition encompasses wearing unique, distinctive, handcrafted jewelry made of precious metals and adorned with turquoise and authentic gemstones. "Golden Jewel Pony" was conceived as a stunning way to both honor and share, with the modern world, various Native American traditions. My art has been a life long journey and will be with me as long as I am able to paint, it inspires me and takes me to a place of peace and tranquility in the many hours I spend painting.
